Emma Watson has summed up feminism perfectly after a prominent entertainment publication questioned if she could show her breasts and speak on being a feminist.
“IS ACTRESS AND FEMINIST EMMA WATSON A HYPOCRITE FOR GOING TOPLESS IN VANITY FAIR?,” The Hollywood Reporter’s fashion website asked on Thursday when the actress posed for this cover:
Pret A Reporter’s headline quickly went viral due to its outrageousness.
“It just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstanding there is of what feminism is,” she told Reuters about the criticism.
“Feminism is about giving women choice,” she said to the BBC. “Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom. It’s about liberation. It’s about equality. I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it!”
Watch her respond to the BBC below. Her Beauty and the Beast co-star Dan Stevens sits next to her and chimes in as well.
Preach, Emma.
