Good news, Oncers: in the latter half of Once Upon a Time season 4, we’ll see Eion Bailey reprise his role as Pinocchio — but, wait, how?!
Back in Once Upon a Time season 2, we said goodbye to Eion Bailey’s August Booth, aka Pinocchio.
After failing in his mission to protect Emma, and instead giving into the temptations of the real world (even taking the money Neal asked him to give Emma after she went to jail), August atoned for his sins, and gave up his life in the process.
But he was rewarded with a second chance: the Blue Fairy turned him back into a boy, and he got to live in Storybrooke with Gepetto.
So, how exactly is Eion Bailey going to reprise his role in Once Upon a Time season 4?
TV Line reports that Bailey will appear in season 4, episode 14, titled “Enter the Dragon.” We have to assume he’s appearing in a flashback, although it’d be great to check in with the current version as well.
Considering that we’ll be moving through the real world as Rumpelstiltskin reconnects with the three evil queens, it’s likely that one of them will have encountered him before. Going by the episode title, this is probably Maleficent.
(Note the discrepancy: TV Line has episode 14 titled “Enter the Dragon,” but IMDb has episode 14 listed as “Unforgiven,” with “Enter the Dragon” being the title of episode 15. “Unforgiven” might be the more accurate title, if the episode is going to focus on August’s shady past.)
Of course, it is interesting that the show is bringing August back right as the hunt for the storybook author is intensifying. Considering that he originally described himself as a “writer,” and was able to add new pages to Henry’s book, there must be a connection between him and The Author — but seeing as he’s lost his memories, it might not do our heroes much good.
Are you looking forward to seeing Eion Bailey back on Once Upon a Time, if only for an episode?
