Warner Brothers’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday featured a section on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and it included one very special moment.
Minutes after Fantastic Beasts star Eddie Redmayne took the stage at Comic-Con, he took out his wand (Newt’s, technically) and tried to light up Hall H himself with a “Lumos” spell. It didn’t work very well, so he decided he needed some help… from everyone in the audience.
Eddie Redmayne ran into the crowd, surprising thousands of Harry Potter fans. It’s not too often that stars voyage into the audience at Comic-Con! With the help of several people dressed up in 1920s New York attire, Eddie started handing out wants to everyone in Hall H (including this writer)!
Someone managed to capture great video of the wand distribution and the group spell being cast. Given how fun and surprising it was (complete with funny commentary from panel moderator Conan O’Brien as Eddie headed deep into Hall H), we thought we’d share it here on Hypable.
Interestingly, the wands were made by The Noble Collection (who’ve created a ton of great Harry Potter memorabilia in the past). The wand appears to be missing its core, which I showed on Instagram yesterday. I’m guessing this is going to be mentioned in the Fantastic Beasts movie. Did Newt’s wand lose its core after he was expelled from Hogwarts? And if so, how did he get his core back, or get a new one?
