As ITV executives depart from behind the scenes, Downton Abbey will gain at least one new on-screen face for its fourth series.

In the first of what will likely be several new additions to the cast, TVGuide shares the news that Downton Abbey is looking to bring a nanny on board for series 4.

According to creator and showrunner Julian Fellowes, he has “a lovely nursery story” planned as part of the continuing saga of the Crawley family. Since offspring (both actual and potential) have become a significant focus of Downton Abbey during its third series, it makes sense that a nanny would be a necessary addition. It will be interesting to see how a nanny fits in to the clockwork-like mechanics of the grand old house.

On the production side of the coin, The Guardian reports that Laura Mackie, ITV’s director of drama, and Sally Haynes, controller of drama commissioning, will be ending their tenures at the network. During their time at ITV, Mackie and Haynes oversaw work on Downton Abbey, along with other popular shows such as Mr. Selfridge and Appropriate Adult. Mackie and Haynes will officially leave ITV at the end of June to set up their own broadcasting company. “We’re sad to go,” Mackie said, “but know that ITV drama will continue to go from strength to strength.”
