Beloved television actress Doris Roberts — best known for playing Raymond’s no-nonsense mom on Everybody Loves Raymond — has died.
Doris passed away on Sunday in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. She was 90 years old.
Everybody Loves Raymond ran for nine seasons on CBS and concluded in 2005. Doris won four Emmys for her role as Marie Barone.
Her Raymond co-star Patricia Heaton said on Monday: “Truly the end of an era. My wonderful TV mother-in-law and ELR nemesis Doris Roberts was a consummate professional from whom I learned so much. She was funny and tough and loved life, living it to the fullest. Nothing gave her greater joy than her three wonderful grandchildren, of whom she was so proud. It truly was a privilege Doris. I love you and miss you.”
Following Raymond, Doris kept up a busy television and film schedule. She appeared in TV series including Hot in Cleveland, Desperate Housewives, The Middle, and Grey’s Anatomy. She will appear in two films this year: Old Soldiers and The Red Maple Leaf, which are currently in post-production, according to IMDb.
Late last year Doris did a Funny or Die sketch with Ed Asner in which they Netflix and Chill’d. She was down with the kids until the very end…
