The official Divergent social media channels are teasing that “something BIG is coming” at the MTV Video Music Awards. Is it the first Divergent movie trailer?

The above graphic was posted on the film’s Facebook page with the MTV VMAs logo. You can see Tris and Four in the background climbing the ferris wheel.

What could be unveiled? The only two things that would live up to the “BIG” promise are the trailer reveal or the first clip reveal. We suspect it’ll be the former because Summit/Lionsgate have used the MTV award show for other highly-anticipated trailer releases like The Hunger Games and Twilight.

Two years ago Lionsgate unveiled The Hunger Games teaser trailer (which was unfortunately just Katniss running), and last year Summit premiered the Breaking Dawn – Part 2 trailer.

Hoping to turn Divergent into their next big franchise, it should come as no surprise that the dystopian book-to-film is following in the footsteps of other big wigs.

We expect a couple of stars to be on hand to introduce the clip or trailer. Lead star Shailene Woodley’s involvement may be up in the air because she just started shooting The Fault in Our Stars and just had to cut her hair short for the role in which she plays a girl stricken with cancer.

We’ll have the Divergent trailer to share with you as soon as its released online. The MTV VMAs are this Sunday at 9 p.m. eastern/pacific on MTV.

Other events happening at the VMAs include performances by Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and a possible surprise ‘N Sync reunion.

Divergent hits theaters March 20, 2014.
