The first two Divergent posters have been released and tease Tris and Four’s signature tattoos.

Four’s poster is particularly significant because it’s the first time we’re seeing his array of back tattoos in full. In the poster, we see Four with his faction tattoos running down his spine in a dark and badass light:

In the second poster we see Tris with her head craned to the right and stretching her neck so we can see her tattoo in all its glory:

Both posters offer excellent looks at the characters, and we’re pleasantly surprised by how dark of a look the film is taking. Could these be a sign of the promotional material to come?

Last week Summit kicked off a campaign in which they asked fans, “What makes you different?” Readers were encouraged to submit photos of what traits, physical features, and talents make them unique. It looks like the studio will be promoting the film by telling people “What makes you different makes you dangerous,” which is an important part of the Divergent storyline. We love this promotional tactic because it reaches a worldwide audience whether or not you’re a fan of Veronica Roth’s trilogy.

Tris and Four are played by Shailene Woodley and Theo James. The film opens in theaters March 21, 2014. Watch the first Divergent trailer, which is packed with great footage.

Thanks, Yahoo! Movies.
