Disney is gearing up to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime for the streaming market, launching its own online subscription service.
Starting next month, U.K. Disney fans will be able to subscribe to an online streaming service called DisneyLife, which will include all the Disney and Pixar movies we know and love, from Cinderella and The Jungle Book to Frozen and Toy Story.
The library will include not only the Disney Classics back catalog, but also books and albums from the Disney brand, and thousands of episodes from Disney Channel series.
While DisneyLife won’t be hosting Star Wars and Marvel Cinematic Universe films, Disney chief Bob Iger told the Financial Times (via 9to5Mac) that there might be separate subscription services dedicated to these properties in the future.

Speaking about the new service, Iger said, “There’s a general sense that the world is going in this direction. There will be multichannel TV and we will be part of it, but the app experience offers many more layers (and) much more richness in content than a channel, where one program follows another program.”
The service, which is set to expand across Europe in 2016, will cost £9.99 a month. This is more than what British subscribers have to pay for Amazon Prime and Netflix, but DisneyLife will allow you to download content and watch it offline — giving it a huge advantage over the online-only model of Netflix streaming.
Offline viewing will be especially useful for families traveling with small children, who will now be able to download entertainment in advance.
There are no current plans to bring DisneyLife to the U.S.
