Lee Unkrich, director of the critically acclaimed Toy Story 3, is currently working on his next Pixar film and today the studio announced its release date.
Operating under the working title Dia de los Muertos because it centers on the Mexican holiday of that name, Disney Pixar announced that the film will hit theaters November 25, 2015.
Not much is known about the project as it’s still a few years off. The film is Unkrich’s first since Toy Story 3, which won the Oscar for Best Animated Film in 2011 and was nominated for Best Picture. It grossed $1.06 billion worldwide making it Pixar’s most successful film to date.
The Pixar pipe line over the next few years looks as follows:
– Monsters University (Monsters, Inc. prequel): June 2013
– The Good Dinosaur: May 2014
– The Untitled Pixar Movie that Takes You Inside the Mind: June 2015
– Dia de los Muertos: November 2015
– Finding Nemo 2: 2016
Also today, Disney announced their Marvel super hero film Ant-Man will release November 2015. With that announcement, Disney’s Marvel arm of releases looks as follows:
Iron Man 3: May 3, 2013
