Dexter season 8 will reach its midpoint on Sunday, as the season picks up pace with the Brain Surgeon murderer now eliminated.
Dr. Evelyn Vogel may have been spared by Dexter and Debra in last Sunday’s episode, but it appears as though Dexter still has her actions seething under his skin.
The Brain Surgeon murderer may be dead, after Dexter brutally killed him, but the series is just about to unveil the next stage of the plot, with Zach poised to learn Dexter’s code.
Vogel seems to have the audacity to announce unbelievable notions this series, and she will do it again in Dexter season 8, episode 6 “A Little Reflection” by suggesting that Zach could be taught the code after he murdered a woman who had an affair with his father.
To confuse things even more, Zach’s family have a bond with the Miami Metro Police Department, something that Matthews sees cannot be tainted.
This places Dexter in an acute predicament, having realised that Zach was the person behind the murder, and with the police department looking into the family, how could Dexter teach Zach the code, and why would he? Vogel seems to have her reasons.
Debra is beginning to make steps towards recovery after trying to drown herself and her brother in the fourth episode, we’ll see her this week getting out back into society socially. However, Jacob Elway causes a scene by punching a guy who starts to hit on Deb. I guess that’s no surprise that Elway would feel this way about Deb.
Elway and Deb have shared some private conversations throughout the series thus far, even when Deb’s been having her darkest days, and we would have been surprised had Elway not gone down this route. He helped Debra track the phone call Vogel made when held captive by the Brain Surgeon murderer, which said more than the words that were spoken.
Showtime have provided a sneak peek at the scene.
And, to cap things off, Quinn won’t be made Sergeant. Batista has had pressure from Matthews to not appoint Quinn, and Quinn is now a man of a mission to prove himself. Quinn asks Dexter for any dirt on Zach, or Zach’s family, before accidentally catching Dexter out for blood. Quinn doesn’t realise what Dexter is actually up to, but how close are things getting now?
We also expect that Hannah McKay will be making an introduction soon. We’re at the halfway point and now that the plot is moving away from the Brain Surgeon murderer, she can’t be far away. What capacity will McKay be a part of?
Dexter season 8 episode 6 “A Little Reflection” airs this Sunday on Showtime at 9pm ET/PT.
