According to a report, Harry Potter director David Yates, Hunger Games helmer Gary Ross, as well as TV director Susanna White (Generation Kill), are all circling a Tarzan project set up at Warner Bros.
The Playlist dug up the report from an article featured on Deadline, which makes the news seem pretty speculatory, but not out of the realm of possibility.
It seems that Yates is a favorite for almost all Warner Bros. projects these days, so it’s not surprising to hear his name mentioned for a potential high-profile project such as this. Ross, meanwhile, is coming off of a huge success with The Hunger Games, and after bowing out of Catching Fire would appear to have the availability. In terms of affordability and general likelihood, White may be the best candidate. Having directed only one feature film, White helmed the popular and critically acclaimed miniseries Generation Kill for HBO.
This project is clearly in the early stages of development, but it’ll be interesting to see whether Yates, Ross, or even White for that matter, jump on board the production. The addition of a high-profile director such as these two would certainly fast-track a Tarzan project to the big-screen. Who would you like to see tackle this work?
