If his role as a supernatural creature in Horns wasn’t enough, Dan Radcliffe is going further by nabbing a role in Frankenstein for 20th Century Fox.
Variety broke the news and says the film is planning to shoot in the Fall after Radcliffe wraps up a run on London’s West End in the play Cripple of Inishmaan (which we told you about last June). Radcliffe will play Igor the hunchback.
Edit: Radcliffe’s official Google+ page has shared the original story, which suggests the role is official.
The script for Frankenstein was written by Chronicle writer Max Landis, and Paul McGuigan will direct. McGuigan’s credits include helming episodes of Smash and Scandal as well as the beloved Sherlock series starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. No other actors or actresses have been named for the project just yet.
Radcliffe was seen at the Oscars this past Sunday where he performed on stage alongside Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Academy Awards host Seth MacFarlane. He also presented an award with Twilight lead actress Kristen Stewart. The latter appearance shocked many in the fandom world, as it was the first time the lead stars of the two biggest modern day book-to-film franchises have met.
As mentioned above, later this year he’ll be seen in Horns and also Kill Your Darlings. The latter film screened at Sundance in January and received high praise.
We’ll keep you updated on Radcliffe’s Frankenstein gig and update you as more information becomes available!
