Unsurprisingly, considering the subject of his latest venture, Cinderella director Kenneth Branagh’s favorite Disney Princess list includes all the classic beauties.
Kenneth Branagh has worn a lot of hats. Shakespearean actor, movie director, Hogwarts school professor and knight of the British empire are some of the first that come to mind, but how about Disney princess ranker?
While promoting his latest movie Cinderella on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Branagh ran down the list of his top five princesses:
Branagh’s list is very traditional, starting off with Sleeping Beauty at a “high” number five. “She has an issue with sleeping; she almost sleeps too much, and that’s the only thing that doesn’t push her higher up the list,” he argues. “Otherwise she’s a terrific girl.”
Number four is Snow White, “very social, terrific party organizer.” Everything you need in a Disney princess, really.
Then Belle lands a number three spot, because, “I needed to put a real, er, intellectual… big reader, you know. Little snobby about the provincial life thing, but we can talk about that.” Because… dreams are for losers? We’re not really following his line of thinking here.

Ariel is number two, only pushed down ’cause she lives in the sea. And of course Cinderella makes number one. “She has courage, she has kindness…” especially in his new version, of course! Cue movie plug.
Well. That’s certainly one way to rank the Disney princesses. Next up, favorite Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers.
