The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced Wednesday that Chris Rock will be returning to host the 2016 Oscars.
The edgy comedian first hosted the Oscars in 2005. This’ll be his second time hosting the prestigious ceremony.
Rock made the news official with the following tweet:
Look who's back. #Oscars. pic.twitter.com/7TkkrDpSJM

Ratings wise, Chris Rock’s first turn as Oscars host is the second biggest in the past decade (first is Ellen DeGeneres’s ceremony in 2014).
Watch Rock’s opening monologue from his last gig hosting the Oscars 11 years ago, which is one of several reasons why viewers are welcoming today’s news:
Last year’s Oscars ceremony was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, whose telecast had the lowest ratings in six years.
The 2016 Oscars will take place February 28, 2016 in Hollywood.
