Guardians of the Galaxy superstar Chris Pratt is carefully choosing his next project, and seems to have settled on Cowboy Ninja Viking… Alien Zombie Pirate Plant?
Chris Pratt is probably knee-deep in movie offers, following his amazing breakthrough as Star-Lord Peter Quill in this year’s smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy.
Universal is working on an adaptation of the graphic novel Cowboy Ninja Viking, and it appears that Pratt has found his next adventure. (And who could say no to that?)
There have been rumours circulating for a while that Pratt (who is next set to star in Jurassic World) was considering the project.
And now, the star has announced the casting via Twitter, answering a fan question:
“@jbkelly80: @prattprattpratt pic.twitter.com/lNR1NYxT56” YES! But who is our director? That is the question. Who do u think it should be?

Cowboy Ninja Viking is written by A. J. Liebermann and illustrated by Riley Rossmo, and revolves around a counter-intelligence unit of Multiple Personality Disorder patients.
Agents are known as “triplets,” and one such triplet is lead character Duncan, whose personalities are those of a cowboy, a ninja, and a viking.
Other triplets have intriguing personality combinations like Army Sergeant/Apache Indian/Scottish Highlander, Mohawk Indian/Playboy/Spartan and Flight Attendant/Joan of Arc/Amazonian Warrior.
Honestly, this sounds amazing. Very reminiscent of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, in which agents’ minds were wiped clean, and new personalities were installed every week.
It was originally picked up by Disney in 2010, with Zombieland screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese slated to pen the screenplay. Disney since dropped the project, and it was optioned by Universal.
Craig Mazin has written the most recent draft of the script. Marc Forster was originally set as director, but has dropped out of the project. According to Pratt’s tweet, no new director has yet been found.
Pratt seems like a perfect fit for the quirky (but awesome) lead role. If this movie is as good as its title is catchy, well, it’s going to be fantastic.
Update: According to The Wrap, Chris Pratt’s reps insist that the actor is still in “early talks” for the role, despite Pratt’s comments. Maybe they’re waiting to commit until a director has been found?
