Some new promo art for Captain America: Civil War shows which side each Avenger will be on. We find out which superhero will be with Iron Man and which will side with Captain America.
Rumors have been swirling about which Avenger would team up with Iron Man or Captain America in Civil War, and now it looks like some concept art has spoiled the surprise. Originally rumors were that Captain America would have Falcon, Bucky, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, and Hawkeye.
Iron Man’s team was set to have Black Widow, War Machine, The Vision, and possibly Spider-Man. But, it looks like the official concept art reveals a different set of Avengers on each side of the battle. Check out the images below to see who will be fighting against each other.
The art doesn’t show us which side Scarlet Witch is on, but we see Black Panther is on Iron Man’s team (despite reportedly being neutral) and Ant-Man can be seen on Captain America and Hawkeye’s shoulders in two separate images.
Sharon Carter (Agent Carter’s niece) is on Captain America’s side, which is to be expected, but it’s nice to see her in the promos despite having only a small role in The Winter Soldier as Cap’s friendly neighbor turned S.H.I.E.L.D. agent.
It’s incredibly exciting to see the teams facing off against each other, even if it’s just some early promo art. Seeing the group split is going to be a unique experience, and having the Russo brothers directing the film is even more promising.
There’s a lot of superheroes in Captain America: Civil War, and while we wish these leaked promos gave us our first look at Spider-Man’s new costume, they do give us a peek at what should be the most exiting Marvel film since The Avengers.
Some fans are concerned about there being too many characters, but we’ve heard good things about the script, and the Russo brothers directed The Winter Soldier, which was easily the best Marvel film since The Avengers.
Captain America: Civil War will hit U.S. theaters May 6, 2016.
Civil War’s story “picks up where Avengers: Age of Ultron left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity,” according to a synopsis from Marvel. “After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.”
