Disney has started to screen Captain America: Civil War to select critics, and they’ve been given permission to tweet about it. Here are the first reactions to the Cap threequel!
So far the Civil War reviews are glowing, with many members of the media praising it as one of the best Marvel movies to date. While these aren’t full reviews of the movie (Disney doesn’t want those published until April 13), it’s safe to say that these early reactions offer very positive feelings overall.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the reaction to Spider-Man, played by Tom Holland. The third iteration of Spidey in the past decade appears to be one of the highlights of Civil War, with one critic saying he’s in the movie more than expected.
Captain America: Civil War is a complex mystery posing a big, fun superhero film. Lots of themes and emotions. Very unexpected & VERY good.

I honestly don't know how Civil War works. There's so much going on but it does. Spidey is AMAZING. Made me smile & laugh till my face hurt

First things first: we finally have the perfect Spider-Man and the greatest Peter Parker.
— nived (@devincf) April 9, 2016
Next: Black Panther is incredible. Boseman plays him as both regal and full of rage. The most serious character in the film.

The movie is bigger in scale than WINTER SOLDIER but is so much more personal. The stakes are incredibly emotional.

Finally: the last fight between Steve and Tony is unlike anything you've seen in a Marvel movie. They're both right. You just want them

CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is literally going to make all the money.

The big battle scene in #CivilWar is an absolute blast. Spider-Man, as you'd expect, steals the show. Ant-Man, as you might not, a close 2nd

Civil War and BvS tackle some of the same themes and have similar beats, yet Cap works because we know and care about these characters.
— Mike Sampson (@mjsamps) April 9, 2016
I’m trying not to talk about ‘Civil War’ by comparing it to BvS, but it’s hard. It succeeds because it's exactly what that film is not: FUN.

#CaptainAmericaCivilWar delivers the goods. Endless Avenger v Avenger action. Tense and still funny. Boseman kills it as Black Panther.

Oh yeah, the big fight in Captain America: Civil War is cinematic joy. And Spider-Man is so great. He's in it more than I thought he'd be.
— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) April 9, 2016
I'm pretty sure Captain America: Civil War is my favorite Marvel movie.

Really incredible character work in #CivilWar. Spider-Man, Ant-Man & Black Panther kill it & Wanda/Vision & Bucky/Sam dynamics are wonderful

At 8pm, WINTER SOLDIER was my favorite MCU film.
Roughly 2.5 hours later, CIVIL WAR is now #1.
Action masterpiece. SPIDER-MAN!!!#NerdTears

There is an airport action sequence in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR that I would be full price to see on a loop for 3 hours.
Epic Nerd Tears!

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters in the United States on May 4, but opens sooner in many countries around the world. It’s directed by the Russo Brothers, who are also in charge of The Avengers: Infinity War Parts 1 and 2.
