Bruno Mars has released “When I Was Your Man” – a piano ballad about the one that got away – in anticipation of his upcoming album, Unorthodox Jukebox.
“I’ve never been this nervous,” the 27-year-old crooner tweeted before the song’s release.
With lyrics about regrets and past breakups, it’s not hard to understand why he might be a bit nervous for the world to hear it.
“Too young, too dumb to realize/ That I should have bought you flowers/ And held your hand/ Should have gave you all my hours/ When I had the chance,” Mars sings in the chorus of the heart-wrenching new ballad. “Take you to every party/ Cause all you wanted to do was dance/ Now my baby’s dancing/ But she’s dancing with another man.”

“When I Was Your Man” is the fourth track released from the singer’s upcoming sophomore album, Unorthodox Jukebox. Lead single “Locked Out of Heaven” is sitting at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Young Girls,” which Mars debuted on Saturday Night Live, and “Moonshine” are also available on iTunes.
Unorthodox Jukebox, the follow-up to 2010’s Doo-Wops and Hooligans, hits stores Dec. 11. Find out what other albums are dropping this month – including new material from Green Day and Blink-182 – in Hypable’s December 2012 Album Preview.
