For American audiences, Broadchurch season 1 concludes tonight with the unveiling of the killer in the David Tennant-led whodunnit drama.
Broadchurch season 1 aired in the United Kingdom several months ago and gained critical acclaim thanks to its wonderful story and strong cast of characters. BBC America brought it to the U.S. several months after it aired abroad.
Reads the official synopsis for the season finale, “After weeks of speculation, the events surrounding Danny Latimer’s death are revealed. Shock waves ripple though Broadchurch as the community struggles to come to terms with the shocking news, but will Danny finally be laid to rest?”

After learning who killed Danny (the answer will surprise you!), come back to Hypable and discuss the reveal with fellow fans.
Broadchurch season 2 is in production and will air in 2014. Since Danny’s killer will be solved in tonight’s finale, season 2 will be a reboot of sorts as Ellie and Alec follow a new mystery. We suspect they’ll have to think outside the box for season 2 because it’d be odd for this innocent small town to have two murders so close to one another.
Meanwhile, Fox is developing a United States adaptation of the show. Hopefully it will surround a completely different mystery, or else the show will be bland for viewers of the Tennant version.
We’re big fans of Broadchurch and plan to cover the drama more closely for its second season. Stay tuned, viewers!
