Riverdale has just added a True Blood alumn to its cast for season 2.
Deadline reports that actress Brit Morgan has just booked a recurring role on season 2 of The CW’s Riverdale.
Morgan is set to play a character named Penny Peabody, and it sounds like she’ll have a significant story arc that heavily involves everyone’s favorite Riverdale outsider, Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse).
Penny Peabody (also known as the “Snake Charmer”) is a backroom attorney who frequently works with the Southside Serpents if in the event that run-ins with the law turn sour.
Unfortunately, it sounds as though Penny’s help comes with a price, but it’s not one that anyone who uses her services will be abel to pay in cash. When Jughead goes to her in the hopes of helping his father, who’s currently in jail, Penny reveals that she prefers to be paid in favors, rather than money.
Though not much else is known about Penny, it definitely sounds as though her services could prove to be more trouble than they’re worth, and we’ll be interested to see what ends up transpiring if Jughead accepts her help.
Morgan, who played Debbie Pelt on HBO’s True Blood isn’t the only new face joining the cast of Riverdale next season.
Earlier this year, fans also learned that Mark Consuelos (Pitch) would be joining the cast in a recurring role next season, where he’ll play Veronica’s illusive father, Hiram Lodge.
The first season of Riverdale totally threw us for a loop with all the twists and turns the showrunners threw our way. Given the way things were left in the season finale, however, we’re betting we’re in for another wild ride when the hit series returns for its second season in the fall.
Riverdale season 2 premieres on The CW at 8 p.m. on October 8.
