Netflix used their Television Critics Association panel to announce a slew of renewals and premiere dates on Tuesday.
First, the beloved Netflix Original animated BoJack Horseman has been renewed for season 3. The announcement comes only a couple weeks after the animated comedy premiered its second batch of episodes. All 12 episodes of season 3, with actor Will Arnett in the role of BoJack, will premiere in 2016.
Also today Netflix announced the premiere date and title of Parks & Rec alum Aziz Ansari’s new series Master of None. Premiering November 6, 2015, the series “follows the personal and professional lives of Dev (Aziz Ansari), a 30-year-old actor in New York who has trouble deciding what he wants to eat, much less the pathway for the rest of his life. Ambitious, funny, cinematic, and both sweeping in scope and intensely personal, Dev’s story takes him through subjects as diverse as the plight of the elderly, the immigrant experience, and how to find the most delicious pasta for dinner.”
Netflix also teased several new series coming in late 2015 including the new Marvel show Jessica Jones starring Krysten Ritter and David Tennant. Meanwhile, the 4-episode comedy series With Bob and David starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross will premiere around the same time, as will Bill Murray and Sofia Coppola’s A Very Murray Christmas.
Murray’s holiday special will be a can’t-miss event — the special will include guest stars George Clooney, Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Julie White, Dimitri Dimitrov, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Phoenix, Frederic Moulin, Rashida Jones, and Miley Cyrus.
Speaking during his TCA panel, Netflix head Ted Sarandos said to expect a new Marvel season roughly twice a year. “Every six months, you’ll get a new season or series from The Defenders group.”
