Someone who seemingly could have connections on the inside has claimed that there will be a Boba Fett Star Wars spinoff movie and that it will be written by Lawrence Kasdan.
It’s certainly not official, but director and animator Jon Schnepp says that he knows for a fact that a movie about Boba Fett will be one of the Star Wars spinoff movies released between episodes VII, VIII, and IX.
Speaking on the 24 hour movie talk marathon put on by the AMC theater chain, Schnepp said, “One of them is Boba Fett. It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”
The talk comes in at about the four minute mark.
The only question that remains is whether or not Schnepp is correct or not. In the past, he has worked for Cartoon Network. He didn’t work on The Clone Wars, but he would presumably have some friends that did. It’s even plausible that he’d have some friends within LucasFilm. In short, he very well could know, and it’s unlikely that he’d make it up.
Kasdan writing the film certainly would be a good sign for Star Wars fans. A Boba Fett film has been one of the most anticipated films by fans, and Kasdan is beloved as writer of The Empire Strikes Back.
Kasdan recently replaced Michael Arndt as screenwriter on the upcoming Episode VII with director J.J. Abrams.
