Billy Crudup is the latest movie actor to make the jump to TV, joining Naomi Watts in the Netflix original series Gypsy.
It seems like silver is the new gold, considering that all the big-name Hollywood actors are discovering the joy of serialized storytelling on the small screen.
Netflix is proving itself as successful as cable networks when it comes to attracting big stars, having recently wowed with its spectacular casting of Winona Ryder for its 80s series Stranger Things.
Next up in must-see digital TV is Gypsy, starring superstar Naomi Watts as Jean Holloway, “a therapist who begins to develop dangerous relationships with people who are involved in her patients’ lives.”

Variety reports that Billy Crudup (Spotlight, Watchmen, Almost Famous) is set to play Jean’s husband Michael, “who navigates their twisted and complicated marriage as well as his own morally gray relationships.”
Naomi Watts also serves as executive producer on the 10-episode series, which is created by Lisa Rubin. The first two episodes will be directed by Fifty Shades of Grey‘s Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Netflix will debut Gypsy some time in 2017.
Coming up in 2016 is plenty of other original Netflix programming, however. In September we can look forward to Narcos season 2, Longmire season 5, From Dusk Till Dawn season 3, Chef’s Table season 3, and new series Kazoops!, Easy, and Marvel’s Luke Cage.
Make sure you check out recently released series Stranger Things and The Get Down as well, both of which we’ve covered on Hypable.com.
