Pixar released its 17th feature-length movie, Finding Dory, on June 17. In light of the animation studio’s latest, readers pitched in to create the ultimate ranking of Pixar movies.
The game was simple: Readers up-voted the movies they did like, and down-voted the movies they didn’t like. With all of our readers pitching in, we were able to create a list that gives us a definitive ranking. Screw those lists with the opinion of only one person! This list gives us a sense of how the world collectively sees Pixar movies.
Beginning with Toy Story in 1995, Pixar has released a number of amazing films over the past 21 years. The studio has suffered a few stumbles along the way (Cars 2 and The Good Dinosaur weren’t very well received, for example), but in most cases Pixar has proven themselves to be worthy of the Walt Disney brand (We’re still not over last year’s Inside Out).
If Pixar’s been criticized for anything, it’s their desire to create sequels for an easy box office return. Like the Cars follow-up, Monsters University — a prequel to Monsters, Inc. — didn’t give us the feels like most Pixar movies do. On the other hand, Toy Story 3 was an amazing conclusion to the trilogy. Now we’re anxiously awaiting Toy Story 4 and The Incredibles 2, while simultaneously trying to forget that Cars 3 is actually a thing that’s happening.
Our four-day game ended with the following results: Finding Nemo is the best Pixar movie, followed by Monsters, Inc., Toy Story, and The Incredibles. At the bottom of the list are Cars, The Good Dinosaur, and Cars 2. See the full list below!
