Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has an incredible cast, but one popular character is missing. Apparently that character will die in some way prior to the start of the sequel’s story. (Spoilers!)
A new report suggests that detective Jim Gordon won’t be making an appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. That’s not because they forgot about Batman’s beloved detective, but because he will be killed off in the storyline.
The rumor suggests that the character’s death will be addressed in the film, saying, “all that’s noted in the script is that there’s a memorial plaque to James Gordon,” but he won’t be making an appearance. Considering Gordon has his own television show, this isn’t surprising, although Warner Bros. have decided to move forward with The Flash film, despite having the character on a television series.
Badass Digest reports, “James Gordon has, at some point in the past, bitten the dust. Batman has been operating in Gotham for 17 years.” So this falls in line with the fact that Batman is going to be an older version of the character, with the film’s producer saying he’d be in his mid 40s.
While we’ll miss the relationship between Gordon and Batman, it’s probably best that they not add another character to Batman v Superman, which already has a fairly crowded cast. Warner Bros. has set Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s release date for March 25, 2016.
