WB has completed an internal investigation of what recently occurred during Bachelor in Paradise filming after allegations of sexual assault surfaced and production shut down.
The network says that they’ve reviewed footage of the incident and have concluded that no misconduct took place. Filming will resume in the weeks ahead.
The development is surprising given Corinne Olympios’s strong statement last week, in which she said she was a victim of sexual assault.
Said ABC in their statement on Tuesday: “As we previously stated, we recently became aware of allegations regarding an incident on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico. We take all such allegations seriously. The safety, security and well-being of the cast and crew is our number one concern, and we suspended filming so that the allegations could be investigated immediately and thoroughly.”
“Our internal investigation, conducted with the assistance of an outside law firm, has now been completed. Out of respect for the privacy interests of those involved, we do not intend to release the videotape of the incident. We can say, however, that the tape does not support any charge of misconduct by a cast member. Nor does the tape show, contrary to many press reports, that the safety of any cast member was ever in jeopardy.”
They continued, “Production on this season of Bachelor in Paradise will be resuming, and we plan to implement certain changes to the show’s policies and procedures to enhance and further ensure the safety and security of all participants.”
Presumably some of those changes will have to do with how alcohol is used while filming. Reports indicated that all contestants were drinking the night the incident took place.
TMZ says WB spoke with DeMario’s lawyers, reviewed the tapes together, and told him he’s “in the clear.”
It remains to be seen if the contestants who were involved in the incident, DeMario Jackson and Corinne Olympios, will be returning. Contractually they could be compelled to. The two stars had hired outside lawyers to represent them after the incident occurred.
