The CW has released a new promo poster for Arrow season 3, featuring the usual suspects.
The poster shows Team Arrow — that is, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) as the Arrow flanked by Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) and Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) as Arsenal on his left and Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and John Diggle (David Ramsey) on his right.
Conspicuous only by her absence is Thea Queen (Willa Holland), who left Starling City with her biological father, Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), in the season 2 finale.
The team appears to be walking toward the camera, a wrecked cityscape behind them. Though we know season 3 begins with Team Arrow on a high note, we can only guess from this poster that things won’t stay rosy for long.
Not with Matt Nable’s Ra’s al Ghul on deck as the season’s Big Bad, anyway.
Other recent Arrow casting additions also include Nick Tarabay (Captain Boomerang), Austin Butler (Chase), Amy Gumenick (Cupid), Rila Fukushima (Katana), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer), David Cubitt (Manhunter), Matt Ward (Komodo), J.R. Ramirez (Wildcat), Karl Yune (Maseo Yamashiro) and Peter Stormare (Vertigo). John Barrowman was also promoted to series regular for season 3.
Felicity is also slated to have a character-centric episode, titled “The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak,” that will feature her mother (Charlotte Ross) and her ex-boyfriend from MIT (Nolan Funk).
The Arrow season 3 synopsis reads:
“In the aftermath of this victory, Season 3 opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen — not as long as the city needs The Arrow.”
Arrow season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
