With about a month to go before the annual American Idol summer tour, the show plans to go on despite the fact that the winner will have just had kidney surgery.
TMZ reports that American Idol is intending to go on as planned regarding the annual summer tour after Phillip Phillips’ surgery.
According to the report, Phillips had eight surgeries during his stay on American Idol to treat a build up of kidney stones:
Caused by a congenital condition, the stones have rendered his right kidney largely ineffective, prompting him to temporarily rely on a stint and the need for an operation that would bring about a more permanent solution.
The surgery, which is scheduled for the first week of June, is expected to have a recovery time of six weeks. All parties involved with the tour have been consistent in their responses that Phillip will be present for the tour kickoff on July 6 in Detroit.
What a crazy couple of months it must be to deal with a serious medical injury and win the biggest talent show on earth!
Our best wishes go out to Phillip and his circle of friends and family as they deal with this meddlesome issue!
Do you have tickets to see Phillip and the Idol crew this year? If so, which city?
