AHS social media may be updating their avatar, and actors may be confirming their involvement, but we still know next to nothing about season 6.
An odd move was made by the FX series’ social media team. Typically lagging when it comes to updating their internet presence, AHS has updated their Twitter header and avatar to reflect the uncertainty of season 6.
Ryan Murphy remains tight-lipped on season 6’s theme, filming location, and major ensemble announcements. Luckily for those who simply can’t wait any longer, some of the series’ past stars are too excited to keep their involvement to themselves. Earlier this week a recent addition to the AHS: Hotel cast, Cheyenne Jackson, confirmed that he will be returning to the series in an interview with Out. Earlier this year, Lady Gaga also confirmed that she would return.
The lack of hype surrounding season 6 is refreshing and a great way to subvert expectations for the impending installment. We all know what happened after AHS: Freak Show killed off Twisty the Clown in the fourth episode after months of teasing the “most terrifying clown” in existence — yes, I am still very bitter about this particular plot point.
The floundering stories of seasons 2-5 left a lot to be desired from the series. Hotel wrapped up quite nicely in the final two episodes, but it was littered with far too many actors and storylines to feel complete in any sense. This has remained an unresolved issue since Murder House. Less is more for AHS and the sooner the stories scale back, the better.
For all we know, at this juncture Ryan Murphy could actually be sitting on the next great idea. Let’s hope his mind is not too scattered with the second seasons of both Scream Queens and American Crime Story to pay a proper amount of attention to AHS.
Do you have any theories of who or what to expect from season 6? Last we heard from the co-creator was at Paleyfest where Murphy suggested that two ideas were in the works and could possibly involve children again.
AHS season 6 is expected to return to FX fall 2016.
