Adrianne Palicki will guest star on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 as a spy with more than one code to her name.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Mockingbird is landing. Actress Adrianne Palicki has been cast in the role of world-class spy Bobbi Morse, The Hollywood Reporter announced today.
Palicki, who is known for her role as Tyra on Friday Night Lights, will reportedly make her first appearance in the fifth episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2. Though only booked for one episode at the moment, Palicki does have an option to return further on in the season.

The news of Palicki’s casting has been anticipated since the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel at San Diego Comic-Con. A video shown at the panel – featuring Patton Oswalt as multiple versions of the ubiquitous Agent Koenig – dropped heavy hints that Bobbi Morse would be introduced in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2.
“If [Coulson] needs her,” one Koenig confirmed, “She’s in.”
But implied support notwithstanding, it remains possible that Morse (who is often known by her codename, “Mockingbird”) may not get off on an especially sweet foot with Coulson. THR suggested that in Morse’s initial appearance, she “may not be an ally” to the now-Director of the agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Whether or not she sings along with Coulson’s tune, however, fans will undoubtedly be happy to see Mockingbird appear on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2. Bobbi Morse is a highly popular character from the Marvel comics universe in her own right, and has ties to prominent movie characters like Hawkeye.
Adrianne Palicki is just the latest in a flurry of exciting casting for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2. The actress joins Lucy Lawless, Nick Blood, Reed Diamond, Kyle MacLachlan, and Henry Simmons in an array of new characters spanning the gamut of good, bad, and we-have-absolutely-no-idea.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 2 will premiere on September 23, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
