The Agent Carter season 2 finale will bring Peggy’s adventures to a close for at least another year. Here are five hints for what to expect in the gripping “Hollywood Ending.”
With star Hayley Atwell booked to appear on another ABC series, Agent Carter‘s fate remains uncertain. But whether or not Peggy returns for a third season, the season 2 finale punctuates a season filled with humor and horror — and leaves plenty of questions in its wake.
So here’s what we can tell you!
It takes a village
With Whitney Frost’s powers growing after last week’s fireworks, and the need to defeat Frost ever more urgent, Peggy has to make unsavory bedfellows in order to stand a chance against her foe. One of those people is Howard Stark, whose powers of megalomania are on impressive display in “Hollywood Ending.” But Howard is just the beginning; the Agent Carter season 2 finale unites Peggy’s entire crew of friends, and a few enemies, to make a stand against Whitney Frost… no matter what the cost.
Whitney Frost gets what she wants
For all of her undeniable villainy, Whitney has been one of the most fascinating and dynamic elements of Agent Carter season 2. The final episode deals with both Whitney’s brilliance and her badness, bringing an uncanny kind of resolution to the contradictions and ambitions of the scientist-turned-actress. We won’t say more, but you can be sure that no matter what you think of Whitney, her fate will certainly make an impact.
Keep your eye on the file
Remember that redacted British Intelligence file that Thompson planned to use against Peggy? (Of course you do.) Don’t forget about it; let’s just say that “M. Carter’s” slim folder has an important role to play in both the Agent Carter season 2 finale and beyond.
Peggy makes a choice
The musical number at the start of “A Little Song and Dance” laid out Peggy’s main conflict of this season: The choice between suitors Jason Wilkes and Daniel Sousa. Rest assured that Peggy will have resolved her indecision by the end of the Agent Carter season 2 finale — though shippers are likely to have strong opinions on her choice.
Sting!
The season one finale of Agent Carter surprised fans with an uncharacteristic (and totally creepy) cut scene. “Hollywood Ending” follows the same pattern, but last year’s surprise of seeing Dr. Zola on the small screen pales in comparison to the final moments of Agent Carter season 2. Whether or not Agent Carter returns for a third season, it will leave viewers with plenty of questions… and one very shocking resolution.
The Agent Carter season 2 finale, “Hollywood Ending,” airs Tuesday, March 1 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC.
