Hidden Figures is blowing audiences away and continues to lead the weekend box office.
For the second week in a row, Theodore Melfi’s masterful biopic Hidden Figures is coming away as top performer at the weekend box office, bringing in an estimated $20.5 million and projected to over $25 million, according to The Wrap.
Sing and La La Land follow, with the Star Wars prequel Rogue One continuing its steady stream of box office success.

Not only is Hidden Figures an important piece of cinema, with Taraji P. Henson, Janelle Monáe and Octavia Spencer embodying three female NASA employees whose instrumental roles in getting an American astronaut into space had previously been erased from history, but it’s wonderful to get confirmation that people are showing up to see the film in such significant numbers.
As has been noted elsewhere, the success of Hidden Figures is far from a fluke. It’s a blinking neon sign advertising the fact that American audiences want more of these types of stories, and we hope Hollywood is ready to meet our expectations.
