Last night Disney released an official image from Avengers: Age of Ultron featuring nearly the entire gang, but today we have new concept art which reveals the origins of both Ultron and The Vision. (spoilers)
There has been a lot of speculation as to how Ultron and The Vision come to be, as both are robot superheroes/supervillains of sorts, and today we finally have an idea of how the two are created.
If you don’t want to know how either Ultron or The Vision are created, we advise not looking at the images or reading any further. Check out the character origins below in the concept art:
In case anyone has trouble reading the promotional art, check out the origins of both The Vision and Ultron. It seems Tony Stark has been busy:
Ultron:
First discovered as a simple computer program hidden among the ruins of the Chitauri invasion of New York, the being known as Ultron soon completed its development into a sophisticated artificial intelligence after some experimentation by Tony Stark.
Ultron’s first shocking ultimatum upon gaining consciousness was to declare the human race its enemy. Setting out to exterminate all life on the planet, the unstable and emotional Ultron seeks to upgrade its mechanical body to an ultimate, unstoppable form.
With an army of robotic drones and the ability to enter and corrupt any computer network, Ultron will stop at nothing to see humanity wiped out.
The Vision:
Programmed by the combined geniuses of Tony Stark and Bruce Banner and imparted with the ability to fly, project intense energy beams and change the density of his form, the Vision has proved himself a worthy hero, aiding the Avengers in their struggle against the evil A.I. Ultron.
We also get one of the best looks at The Vision with the image below, which is coupled with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow. We’re unsure if it means anything that they’re being seen together, but as these are two images spliced together, it probably doesn’t mean anything in terms of the storyline. It does give us a better look at Black Widow’s new weapons, which appear to be batons that electrocute her victims.
In the final image we see Ultron and the Vision meshed together, this could be a hint to the fact that Ultron actually creates him, despite what the origins tell us. Director Joss Whedon has said that Ultron will create the Vision to prove he can create life, so we probably won’t know until the film hits theaters.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron will be released in theaters on May 1, 2015, with its follow-up being Avengers: Infinity War, which will be split into two parts and be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
