Peter Jackson may not have the rights to The Silmarillion, but why stop at three Hobbit movies? Orlando Bloom is game for more.
With the final Middle-earth movie The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in cinemas, fans are struggling to accept that this is really the end.
They’re beginning to look to The Silmarillion as a potential source of new stories, but as Marama Whyte points out in her article, Christopher Tolkien is probably not going to give up the rights.
But that shouldn’t stop Warner Bros., right? Appearing on The Conan O’Brien Show, Orlando Bloom suggests an elven spinoff, starring himself, Lee Pace (Thranduil) and Evangeline Lilly (Tauriel):
Bloom jokes that they’d take their iPhones and Go-Pros, “And the elves annihilate Middle-earth. Tantric sex style. Down and dirty. Let’s go with a bit of elven love, and give them some violence.”
“Listen! Low budget movies make lots of money,” he adds. And we’re sure this one would — a Go-Pro pornographic version of The Hobbit? Featuring Conan O’Brien? Why the hell not?
And let’s face it: The Hobbit movies already invented a brand new elf, Tauriel — and it’s not like Legolas himself was even actually in the book. So this would be about as accurate as many plot additions in The Hobbit.
They could call it Elfie.
