Orphan Black returns on April 18, 2015, and we now have a new teaser.
The teaser features several of the surviving clones looking dead into the camera reciting a sentence about knowledge, power, and corruption.
It starts out with a serious and medically recovered Cosima (Tatiana Maslany) saying, “This is a fight for knowledge.” Next up is an equally serious Sarah Manning (Tatiana Maslany) stating, “This is war.” Helena (Tatiana Maslany) pops up, and she seems to be in pretty bad shape. She’s covered in blood with multiple facial wounds. She beleagueredly says something to the camera in what is likely Ukrainian. There are no subtitles, but we get the gist. Rounding out the clones, played by SAG nominee Tatiana Maslany, we have Allison who reaffirms, “Those with power do not give it up easily.”
For a variation on the older female clone theme, we are now faced by our youngest clone who was introduced last year, Charlotte. Charlotte, who was raised by Marion after many other clones died, starts off saying, “They never have…” and then she is cut off.
Charlotte’s sentence is then picked up by a pair of male clones (Ari Millen) who were introduced last year. One seems sane and angry, likely Mark Rollins who is now on the run. The other seems ridiculously and insanely jubilant. He’s likely the clone revealed to Sarah Manning by Marion at the military base. He finishes, “…and they never will.” He is also likely the clone seen in the new still above with Sarah.
There are several noticeable omissions in the teaser of both clone and non-clone characters.
Tony, the transgendered clone, does not appear. He was perfectly fine when we last left him. Secondly, Rachel Duncan is excluded. The last time we saw her, she was holding Sarah Manning hostage. Sarah managed to escape by stabbing Rachel in the eye with a pencil. She fell unconscious to the lab floor leaving the audience to guess if she was dead or merely incapacitated.
Non-clone recurring characters were also omitted: Mrs. S., Felix, Kira, Donny, and Delphine just to name a few.
The series seems to have been gaining steam since its debut two years ago. It’s the most successful BBC America/BBC co-production to date. Arguably, the series is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Tatiana Maslany has received a SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
Hopefully we will have a more extensive trailer as we get closer to the April 18, 2015 launch date.
