Marvel has reportedly cast Krysten Ritter in the starring role of their Netflix series titled Jessica Jones.

Update (Friday, December 5): Marvel has formally announced that Ritter will star in Jessica Jones.
“Krysten brings both the hard edge and the vulnerability the role demands,” said Executive Producer/Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg in a statement. “We can’t wait for fans to see her in action, coming to Netflix in 2015.”
“Krysten Ritter has the type of range, spanning the comic to the tragic, that makes for the stuff of the best Marvel heroes,” added Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer/Marvel’s Head of Television. “As Jessica Jones, Krysten will bring one of the most beloved new characters of the past decade to life in a way we know will delight her longtime fans and introduce her to many more.”

Marvel’s Netflix series following the character Jessica Jones was reportedly down to actresses Teresa Palmer and Krysten Ritter, and Deadline is now reporting that Ritter has grabbed the lead role.
The two actresses were both doing script readings with actor Mike Colter, who is reportedly their number one choice to play Luke Cage.
Melissa Rosenberg is in charge of the 13-episode Netflix series, and it will follow Jessica Jones, who is a superhero who suffers from PTSD, which causes her to give up her superhero lifestyle and open a detective agency to help other superheroes fight crime.
Krysten Ritter may be most recently known for her role as Jesse’s girlfriend in Breaking Bad, but she’s also had roles in half a dozen comedy pilots and a few other television shows.
Ritter is also known for her lead role in ABC’s comedy Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23. She’s a talented actress, and while we don’t know much about this Netflix series, we know that Marvel is putting its full weight behind these Netflix projects.
Look for more information regarding Jessica Jones and the rest of Marvel’s Netflix series in the coming months, as they should become a staple of Netflix’s already impressive portfolio of original shows.
