Previously on ‘Constantine’…
An old friend of Constantine’s came to town in last week’s episode, unwittingly unleashing a hunger demon on Atlanta. Gary Lester was involved with the events that sent Astra’s soul to hell, and hasn’t exactly been coping well. In a bid to assuage his guilt he “saved” a young man in the Sudan with a demon trapped inside him — transferring the spirit to a bottle, which ultimately ends up smashed when he’s pulled aside by U.S. customs.
Though he’s a friend of Constantine’s, John appears to have very little time for him, due to his heavy drug addiction. He ultimately finds out that the only way to capture the demon for good is to trap it inside a body and allow it to consume itself. Constantine plays very cleverly on Gary’s feelings of guilt for Astra’s fate, and has him agree to be the vessel to contain the demon. You can read a more in-depth recap of the events here.
This week, Constantine travels to New Orleans to investigate a series of “resurrections” that have occurred in the area — and finds himself needing to team up with an adversary in order to put a stop to the deadly spirits.
