This Sunday’s new episode of The Walking Dead season 5 will bring everyone back together again. But things will be very different.
The major change, of course, is that the show will no longer be focused on the characters heading up to Washington D.C. Two weeks ago Eugene admitted that he knows nothing about a cure to the infection up in the nation’s capitol, leaving Abraham in shock and the rest of their small group unsure of what to do.
It looks like every one will get back together again for a new mission on The Walking Dead season 5, episode 7: Enter the hospital to rescue Beth and Carol. It’ll be interesting to watch Rick’s reaction to the Eugene news too.
But then what?
This is our problem with where the show stands right now. Are we excited to see Rick and company get what they want from the Atlanta hospital? We suppose it’ll be nice to see them in a “city” again, but the show doesn’t feel like it’s working towards a big goal right now.
This lack-of-a-big-mission feeling is what a real zombie apocalypse would probably feel like. But this is television! Although the season has been very exciting so far, we’re worried that elements like Morgan and Father Gabriel aren’t enough to keep us intrigued, unless the former reveals some interesting twist/goal.
A synopsis for this Sunday’s new episode of The Walking Dead season 5 reads: “Between holding down the church and going on a rescue mission, our group is spread pretty thin. Is this going to be the breaking point?”
In the following trailer, comments from Rick make it clear that they’re preparing to penetrate the hospital.
The show typically makes major adjustments during the middle of the season, so when the mid-season premiere rolls around in February there should be several interesting changes afoot.
