Holmes and Watson joined forces on their first official consultation since Sherlock’s return from England. There was some friction between the Kitty and Joan, but Sherlock’s interest in his protégée’s success enhances Joan’s resolve to make it work between them.

Sherlock and Joan may have all the facts about Kitty’s past, but how will this affect the way Joan behaves around her? Well, if Kitty has anything to say about it, she will not let Joan throw host a pity party. Sherlock will seek a consultation from an unlikely expert, whose secret passion has nothing to do with professional American football. But it is Harlan Emple’s return to the brownstone that triggers the investigation of the week. When a high order math scavenger hunt begins to turn up dead bodies, it is Harlan who finds himself at the center of the mystery rather than a consult.
