A lot happened on Nashville season 3, episode 6 last night so let’s get to the good stuff!
Juliette: Juliette is taken out of her concert, surrounded by reporters, and Zooey calls Avery so he can decide what to do. She had a pulmonary embolism in her leg which traveled into her lung. While in the hospital she also finds out she only got one CMA nom, for song of the year, co-written with Avery. However the news doesn’t know why she got hospitalized so that’s a win for her right now.
And just as she is waxing poetic about what a good day it is, Avery arrives at the hospital. We almost get an actual conversation but Noah walks in and Avery walks out. Noah is there when Juliette gets the news that she can no longer tour with her condition while pregnant. He also tells her that he will be there for her but she actually wants to talk to Avery since he showed up.
The producers aren’t pleased that they weren’t informed about the pregnancy but they will move up her scenes so she can get them done sooner. JuJu is back in form when she fires Zooey for taking over the song after she passes out, a bonus as she is looking for Avery. And we finally get a real talk between the two lovelorn singers. She also knows that she messed things up with Avery but the only reason she kept the baby was because it was his.
She tells him that the only way she wants to do this is 100% with him or without him and that it’s his choice. Avery shows up at her house and tells Ju he forgives her but doesn’t trust her and tells her it isn’t her choice if he’s in the baby’s life. Later that day Juliette announces to the press that she is pregnant and Avery is the father. So maybe there’s hope for these two down the road.
Rayna: Rayna invites Sadie to watch the CMA nominations. Rayna gets nominated six times but is going up against Luke for Entertainer of the Year. However the newscasters state that part of the reason she was nominated for so many awards was because she is part of a power couple. And Rayna is none too pleased to hear that. Bucky joins the fun, and Rayna questions her nominations. After talking to Luke, who is hardcore campaigning, Ray decides to think about doing the same.
After getting an offer to perform “Ball and Chain” with Luke on Dancing with the Stars, Ray doesn’t want to be so attached to Luke publicly during the award season and says that she will do it alone. Guest star Sara Evans joins Luke on stage and they end up singing one of her songs and it sounds pretty good. After her concert Bucky tells her that the show passed on her solo performance. She lies and tells them that she has a brand new unreleased single and ends up getting the solo spot. Rayna tells Luke she pushed him out of the DWTS spot and they basically decide to campaign against each other.
Deacon: Deacon complains to Pam about Luke, being on the tour, and missing his daughter. Pam is having none of it and leaves to go be with everybody else. Pam comes back and finds Deacon working on a new song he wrote when he first met Pam, ewwww. That night at his concert, Deacon is about to perform his new song but ends up finishing early because the crowd wants Will and Luke.
Pam lays into Deacon and tells him that his heart isn’t in the tour. While Deacon watches Luke and Sara perform he looks inspired. He apologizes to Pam about his attitude and to prove it ends up playing the song in the entire room after the concert. Pam joins in and soon the whole room does, in perfect harmony! Luke gets the call about the kids’ party and tells Deacon that he’s headed that way.
Everybody else: Will and Sadie get nominated for newcomer of the year. Will tries to be happy for the camera with Layla. Both are sporting injuries and lie to the camera. In the hotel room, Layla drinks up a storm and we find out it’s the last day of shooting. Will ends up meeting Sara while Layla is getting sauced at the bar.
There is a great reaction shot of Deacon, Pam, and Luke all turning their heads in her direction I had to rewind it. Somehow Will gets her out of the cameras view, with a little help from Pam who stops the cameras from following. In their room, she tries to guilt Will by kissing him but then tells him to just leave so she can keep her party going.
After Gunnar finds about his new son, he runs to Scarlett and details all his fears about being a father. Her advice? Be the kid’s friend. So he somehow finagles getting the kid overnight when he goes back to the diner. Scarlett is still trying to help the homeless man from last week and while doing laundry discovers a picture of the man and his family. Shockingly, her questions get him angry, and it’s really not that shocking.
Micah has completely taken to Gunnar after knowing him for less than 24 hours. When Kylie comes to pick up the next day Gunnar convinces her to stay in town. What power does he have over women??? Zooey of course walks in right as he is hugging her and asks what’s going on. You got some explaining to do Gunnar.
Teddy calls his new BFF slimy Jeff about the lady he was introduced to and he makes a date for that night. This will go well. At the dinner, Jeff gets Teddy to play a video of the girls singing and they start talking about the girls getting a record deal. Teddy, don’t be so dumb. While Maddie is watching Daphne, the boys they are with suggest going someplace else.
Where is this other place? Their mom’s house where Maddie decides to throw a rager. Teddy is getting it on with his new lady and it’s just all too easy to get him to go skinny dipping. Maddie ends up kissing her soon-to-be-brother as Daphne calls the cops. Teddy, come on get a clue. Jeff paid the lady, she’s an escort. This isn’t Pretty Woman and she didn’t actually care about you.
Teddy, Rayna, Deacon, and Luke end up getting called back to the house to deal with the house party. It’s a slightly uncomfortable scene with all three of Rayna’s men in the kitchen and I’m honestly surprised this is the first time that’s happened this season. They all throw blame, and Rayna walks in and it all drops.
Rayna and Teddy have an adult conversation while Maddie talks to Deke and it’s super sweet. Rayna and Teddy end up deciding to get a nanny as the solution to them not being around. Hmmm, not sure about this. Also Teddy ends up calling the escort. Good move buddy.
PHEW! That was alot in one episode but it makes sense because the show is going on a break for a week. Check back later in the week for upcoming Nashville news!
