AHS: Freak Show‘s connection to Asylum can be separated no longer. The series will bring Lily Rabe’s character, Sister Mary Eunice, to the Freak Show this winter.
The speculation of Pepper’s connection to both AHS: Asylum and Freak Show will be explored when Lily Rabe returns to New Orleans this weekend to shoot a guest appearance. Rabe will be reprising her role from the second season, Sister Mary Eunice, who served under Sister Jude (Jessica Lange) at Briarcliff Hospital in New England. Rabe’s guest spot will air in the season’s tenth episode.
Signs of trouble are already creeping in for the promise of a cohesive season titled Freak Show. Ryan Murphy has a tendency to have too many ideas for such a limited platform and no keen eyes telling him when he should cut the cord. As excellent of a character as Pepper is on Freak Show and Asylum, we have to wonder if the appearance of yet another character from the previous series is necessary.

With Rabe and another fan-favorite, Taissa Farmiga, notably absent from the casting call going into Freak Show, the leading roles were capped at 10, yes 10, leading cast members. So far this season we have only explored the story of one, Ethel Darling, in four episodes. With the introduction of Twisty’s backstory and Elsa Mars, rumored to appear tonight, the outlook for the season seems a bit jam-packed.
Earlier today it was announced that Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka will appear in the last two episodes of Freak Show. Still to come are Matt Bomer’s guest spot and the return of Gabourey Sidibe.
Regardless of the plot and character overload coming our way, we’ll take whatever we can to get Lily Rabe back into American Horror Story:
Watch AHS: Freak Show, episode 4, “Edward Mordrake: Part 2,” tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on FX.
