The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s first trailer leaked yesterday, which resulted in Marvel caving and releasing the trailer officially. The film’s villain is played by James Spader, who says that Ultron is “batshit crazy.”
Following a massive leak yesterday afternoon, Marvel released The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer after originally planning to release the film’s first trailer during next week’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode.
In case you haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, be sure to watch The Avengers: Age of Ultron’s first official trailer released by Marvel last night.
The film’s villain was the main focus of the trailer, and actor James Spader has now revealed a few details about playing the character to TotalFilm. Spader says, “There’s a humorous aspect to him, which is something that drew me in from the very first conversation I had with Joss [Whedon].”
Fans are incredibly excited about James Spader being cast as Ultron, as he’s a very unique actor and his voice is worthy of the evil villain. Spader says, “In many ways he’s a child, this character, because he’s a brand new being who’s just come to be. And yet, through artificial intelligence, he has an incredible capacity for knowledge. So he’s a very powerful, smart child.”
Spader goes on about The Avengers: Age of Ultron villain, saying, “Ultron takes abrupt turns in scenes. Red (his character in The Blacklist) isn’t psychopathic but Ultron is. Yes, he is psychopathic. He’s really batshit crazy!”
The Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer has us incredibly excited about Spader as Ultron, and his voice work seems perfect for the mechanical villain. The trailer ends with him saying, “No strings on me,” referencing that he’s no longer under anyone’s control (Iron Man’s). We can’t wait to see more of Spader as Ultron when The Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015.
