The upcoming Fox dramedy series Red Band Society has cast singer/actress Mandy Moore in a recurring role.
Red Band Society, one of the most anticipated new shows of fall 2014, is premiering this Wednesday on Fox! The show follows a group of child patients and their doctors in a private hospital, and counts Octavia Spencer and Dave Annable among its stars.
And now, Fox has announced that Mandy Moore will be joining the series, playing Dr. Erin Grace. The character, who will be appearing in multiple episodes, is the chief of staff at Ocean Park Hospital – and awkwardly also happens to be Dr. McAndrew (Annable)’s ex-fiancee.
Moore is best known for her roles in A Walk to Remember and Grey’s Anatomy. She has also done a lot of voice work, including for Disney’s Rapunzel in Tangled and most recently for Sheriff Callie’s Wild West.
The two doctors’ romantic history is likely to be a major plot element for both characters. Executive producer Rina Mimoun has recently stated that Red Band Society will feature lots of love triangles and relationship storylines, saying that, “There will be soapy goodness and wonderfulness coming up” for both the teenage and adult characters.
We already know that the show will feature one flashback, to Jordi (Nolan Sotillo)’s childhood. It is likely that other characters’ pasts will be explored, so maybe we’ll get to see how McAndrew and Grace’s relationship fell apart.
If you haven’t already, you can watch the pilot episode of Red Band Society on Hulu.
But why give in now? The series premiere is only two days away! The first episode will air on Fox this Wednesday at 9/8c.
