Ahead of The Fault in Our Stars’ DVD and Blu-ray release this Tuesday, a new deleted scene has found its way online.
In the clip, Hazel (Shailene Woodley), Gus (Ansel Elgort), and Mrs. Lancaster (Laura Dern) return from Amsterdam and are greeted by Hazel’s father (Sam Trammell) at the airport. We jump to Mr. Lancaster and Hazel back at home on the couch where the former can’t bring himself to say that “everything happens for a reason” (in response to the revelation that Gus is sick again).
The father and daughter then have a brief conversation about life before we move to a different scene where Hazel is checking in on Isaac’s vision as Gus receives chemotherapy.

This is not the first deleted scene we’ve been able to watch online from The Fault in Our Stars. Be sure to check out this clip of Hazel reciting “The Red Wheelbarrow” to Gus, and this scene depicting the two lovebirds reflecting on a recent scare.
In addition to deleted scenes, The Fault in Our Stars on DVD and Blu-ray boasts features like director/author commentary and featurettes. You can order now on Amazon!
