Creator and star, Lena Dunham, posted a video today announcing that the HBO series Girls is officially in production.
Girls is slated to return to HBO next year with the fourth installment of the series. It is no secret that the show has attracted the attention of bystanders in Brooklyn where a majority of the show is filmed during the summer months.
Today, Lena Dunham and HBO posted this funny promotional video on YouTube:
Over the summer there have been some new faces added to the mix of Hannah, Shoshanna, Marnie, and Jessa. Guest stars spotted on set include Zachary Quinto and fan favorite Andrew Rannells. Natasha Lyonne will make an appearance as Rickey, while Gillian Jacobs will play a character named Mimi Rose. An entire episode will take the same name.
Most recently, Jason Ritter was spotted on set and is confirmed to play a character named Scott and Spike Jonze will have a multi-episode arc.
Hannah is set to leave the big city to attend the Iowa Writers Workshop at the start of season 4, welcoming a fresh batch of people for her to interact with before she returns to life in Bushwick. Some of the faces fans can expect to see include Desiree Akhavan (Appropriate Behavior) and newcomer Peter Mark Kendall. They will both play comrades of Hannah in Iowa.
Dunham is no stranger to posting behind the scenes photos from the set on her Instagram. A few weeks back she chose a black and white image of “Depression Era Ray & Hannah.”
While you may see many headlines with Adam Driver’s name tied to other projects, rest assured that Adam will appear in season 4.
Even with Girls entering post production, Lena Dunham still has a busy fall ahead of her. In addition to taking part in editing, Dunham will begin her book tour promoting the release of her debut memoir Not That Kind of Girl.
Girls returns to HBO this January. Not That Kind of Girl hits bookstores September 30.
