Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made a lot of money this weekend, and Paramount has wasted no time in announcing a sequel. We don’t know which part of that sentence is the least surprising.
Paramount has set June 3, 2016 as the release date for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel.
With Transformers: Age of Extinction and now Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 2014 has become a highly successful summer for Michael Bay. Paramount has announced that Bay will return to produce the sequel with his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, with Galen Walker and Scott Mednick. The script will be again be written by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, but it’s not clear if director Jonathan Liebesman will return as well.
Though we didn’t love Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (read our review), there’s still hope that a sequel could be better. By focusing more on the turtles than on human characters like Megan Fox’s April O’Neil, a sequel could better play to its predecessor’s strengths.
Are you looking forward to a ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ sequel?
