The Weinstein Company has released a brand new clip for the upcoming book-to-film adaptation of The Giver and in it, fans can get a brief first look at country singing sensation, Taylor Swift’s character Rosemary.
If you’ve been itching to see what singer Taylor Swift will be bringing to the table when The Giver finally hits theaters later this month, then this new clip from the film is sure to tide you over until the film is released.
In a brand new clip from The Giver, which premiered exclusively on Yahoo on Friday, fans are offered a first glimpse of Swift’s upcoming on-screen persona Rosemary.
The short, 40-second clip can only be described as bittersweet and features a hologram of Swift tinkering away at a piano with a younger, hologram version of The Giver (played by Jeff Bridges). Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) looks upon the scene for a while before The Giver explains a bit of Rosemary’s backstory to the young receiver before telling Jonas that she “no longer exists” outside the hologram that he is gazing upon.
Based on the best-selling book by Lois Lowry, The Giver takes place in a futuristic society where war, violence, hatred, and poverty do not exist. In order to ensure a happy balance in daily life however, citizens of the world have given up their right to basic feelings like love, sadness, and more.
Also starring Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Cameron Monaghan, and Odeya Rush, The Giver hits theaters on August 15.
Just can’t wait for The Giver to hit theaters? Hypable is currently giving a few L.A.-based readers the chance to attend a special advanced screening of the film this Tuesday, August 11. Read all about how you can enter to win tickets here.
