Learn how your favorite young adult characters survive in the blighted wilderness with a new installment of “Things I Learned in YA,” debuting exclusively on Hypable!
It is a truth (almost) universally acknowledged that characters in young adult fiction have some pretty badass skills. From the perilous princessification of The Selection, to the derring-do of Divergent‘s Dauntless, the girls and guys of YA know how to get things done.
In the first two episodes of the Epic Reads webseries “Things I Learned in YA,” the intrepid Aubry and Margot learned how to be a princess (posture is key) and how to be Dauntless (with knives!)
Now, inspired by post-apocalyptic novels like Not A Drop to Drink by Mindy McGinnis, Partials by Dan Wells, and Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi, the readerly duo take on their toughest challenge yet: Learning how to survive the apocalypse.
In “How to Survive the Apocalypse,” Margot and Aubry meet with survival expert Shane to learn a few of the skills which serve their favorite YA characters so well. The two epic readers learn important survival aids, like how to construct a shelter, find water, and build a fire.
Speaking of fire, check out these exclusive photos from the shoot!
That fire definitely wants some respect.
After studying hard under Shane’s careful guidance, Aubry and Margot then test their badass new skills against the wilderness. Well… they try.
(At least they have books. Books make everything better.)
