Six seasons and a movie may come true for Community, whose studio is currently in talks with Hulu for season six.
Deadline reports that Community’s parent studio Sony is talking with the online streaming service to create “more original installments of the show.”
The series was canceled by NBC earlier this month, and at the time there was speculation that the show could find life elsewhere. It would be a move similar to what Netflix did for Arrested Development: The show was resurrected several years after being canceled by Fox.
The big advantage of Community coming back on Hulu is that it would be open to a wider audience than Netflix, because the latter requires a monthly subscription in order to watch any content.
Deadline says that the talks are “preliminary” and it “is unclear whether they would lead to a deal,” but both sides are “willing” to give Community a season 6 should they come to an acceptable agreement.
Series creator Dan Harmon, who returned to the show for season 5 following a one-year hiatus, said on May 12 that he is interested in the idea of another season.
If talks break down with Hulu, there are always other homes like Netflix and other full blown television networks.
Do you believe ‘Community’ will come back for at least one more season?
And if so, will we ever see that movie?
