The teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action Cinderella adaptation starring Lily James has been released.

Disney’s live-action Cinderella won’t be released until next year, but they’ve already given a tantalizing teaser trailer.

Check it out:

While the teaser doesn’t show us much (and that’s the point), it’s hard not to get excited while watching the beautiful glass slipper spinning along with arguably even more beautiful music.

A teaser poster for the movie was also released:

Our first look at James in the iconic role was released by Disney last September.

Official synopsis:

The story of “Cinderella” follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. Eager to support her loving father, Ella welcomes her new stepmother (Cate Blanchett) and her daughters Anastasia (Holliday Grainger) and Drisella (Sophie McShera) into the family home. But, when Ella’s father unexpectedly passes away, she finds herself at the mercy of a jealous and cruel new family. Finally relegated to nothing more than a servant girl covered in ashes, and spitefully renamed Cinderella, Ella could easily begin to lose hope. Yet, despite the cruelty inflicted upon her, Ella is determined to honor her mother’s dying words and to “have courage and be kind.” She will not give in to despair nor despise those who mistreat her. And then there is the dashing stranger she meets in the woods. Unaware that he is really a prince, not merely an apprentice at the Palace, Ella finally feels she has met a kindred soul. It appears her fortunes may be about to change when the Palace sends out an open invitation for all maidens to attend a ball, raising Ella’s hopes of once again encountering the charming Kit (Richard Madden). Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. But, as in all good fairy tales, help is at hand, and a kindly beggar woman (Helena Bonham-Carter) steps forward and – armed with a pumpkin and a few mice – changes Cinderella’s life forever.

‘Cinderella’ hits theaters March 13, 2015

  • Anne Lee

Most uncomfortable shoe ever…I’ve got high hopes for the movie though!

    • Olof Friström

Yeah, glass AND a ridiculously high heel, no wonder she threw them off going down the stairs!

    • Christina

It looks like you would be incredibly off balance! I dunno how one would attempt walking in them without falling forward.

    • danceydancetime

The design doesn’t look like any normal heel I’ve ever seen….it looks unwearable.

  • Disneyfangirl

SO EXCITED SO EXCITED SO EXCITED FOR THIS!

I hope it’s every bit as good as they’re making it sound like, because Cinderella is one of my favorite princesses (and the OuaT version was LAME).

but that shoe—- as pretty as it is, looks very uncomfortable and i’m already wincing at imagining someone wearing it.

    • Kaleryn

I’m glad I’m not the only one who was disappointed in the OUAT Cinderella story – but it was the very beginning, after all, so I guess we can’t really blame them for aiming low on their first try.

  • wil9000

That shoe looks extremely painful and impractical.:)

  • xiku

May I ask what is Dysney’s plan? I mean, they’re already promoting this film, that comes out in 10 months, while they haven’t released a single thing from Into The Woods, that is being released this December? They’re promoting it too soon, I believe.

    • Mayson

It’s an announcement trailer and poster of one of Disney’s most popular princesses. Into the Woods has had some photos released and a full trailer will drop with Maleficent, as well.

      • xiku

It is POSSIBLE that we’re going to have a teaser trailer with Maleficent. Nothing official yet, only fan speculation. And other than that picture of Meryl Streep, which is a still, not a poster or anything of the kind, we haven’t had anything released yet – all other photos were taken from fans that were on the shooting location.
I think it makes no sense to start marketing Cinderella – not only will they be marketing two movies from the same studio that have a similar traget audience (and are, to the casual moviegoer, similar, too – both are live-action fairy tales adaptations) at the same time, which may be confusing to the public, but it’s also way too soon, and what will happen is either fans will then be long months without anything released (which will make releasing this now… well, pointless) or they’ll have to release way too much to maintain to fans interested (which is never good)
The problem is really that they have close release dates. If Into The Woods was out of the picture, and Cinderella was the only movie of the kind in Disney’s pipeline, it would be the right time to start marketing Cinderella, to tell the fans “hey, we have this coming out, you just have to wait a bit”, and grab their attention and keeping them focused on this. However, with Into The Woods, this doesn’t work. The marketing of the two will crash, I believe, and one of the movies will eventually overpower the other, because moviegoers will be confused.
        But, hey, maybe I’m wrong!

The first 20 seconds reminded me of a commercial for dishwasher detergent cubes.

    • Alexa

  • CJ

Totally forgot my girl Cate Blanchett is in this!! Love her

  • TheFirst

That slipper does look rather uncomfortable though. Poor (Cinder)Ella.

  • anna

    • None of your bees

  • Sullivan

    That’s not how feet work.

  • Kaleryn

    That cast!!!

  • Jennifer S

Helena will be playing some one who is not barking mad?! That’s new and awesome. I can’t wait to see this.

    • cris725

well, in all likelihood…she could be good and still barking mad, lol

  • Judy Kirkham-Beville

I sure hope Cinderella doesn’t have to wear those torture devices!

  • W.Elizabeth

While I’m excited about this movie, was anyone else annoyed with this “trailer”? It was a little pointless.

  • Roche

Helena Bonham Carter is playing the “kindly” beggar woman (aka the fairy godmother)?? I thought she would be playing the evil stepmother…

Can’t wait for this movie though.

  • arthouse

You mean there won’t be a war added to this one? She isn’t going to fight her stepmother with those shoes?

  • Jill

This excites me. I loved the butterfly, that was my favorite part.

  • luvmydisney

it’s supposed to be a glass slipper, not a high heel. Disney don’t screw this up….. my favorite princess. So excited to see it with my daughter!
